Neither side were really able to fashion any clear-cut chances on goal in the opening half hour.

In fact, until going behind Polokwane looked in control of the game and were frustrating the Sundowns defence with some well-organised defending.

Nonetheless, the Brazilians persisted and took the lead in the 32nd minute after some gutsy work by Khama Billiat put Castro through on goal and he made no mistake with just the keeper to beat, 1-0.

Seven minutes later Billiat latched onto a long ball and attempted to chip the keeper from 14-yards out, but he was superbly denied by George Chigova.

Sundowns went into the break leading Polokwane 1-0.

Five minutes into the second half Sundowns doubled their lead after an initial 18-yard shot from Billiat was palmed into the path of Castro and he made no mistake to tap home from close range, 2-0.

In the 53rd minute Polokwane pulled a goal back when some sloppy defending by Wayne Arendse gifted the ball to Thobani Mncwango and he dully powered the ball home from 14-yards out, 2-1.

The home side’s joy was short-lived when Dolly restored Sundowns’ two goal lead ten minutes later when he dribbled his way into the box a fired home from just inside the box, 3-1.

Matters went from bad to worse for Polokwane who were reduced to ten me in the 73rd minute when Edgar Manaka was shown a straight red card for a studs-up tackle on Billiat.

With a man advantage Sundowns cruised to a comfortable 3-1 win.
