Celtic Down Ten Man AmaZulu

Absa Premiership

Full Time: Bloemfontein Celtic 3-0 AmaZulu

Date: 15 February 2015

Venue: Free State Stadium

Bloemfontein Celtic beat a ten man AmaZulu 3-0 in an Absa Premiership match at the Free State Stadium on Sunday afternoon to move into the top half of the table.

The first 45 was a half dominated by the home teams as they controlled the possession stakes and dictated the flow of the game.

AmaZulu, on the other hand, struggled to get hold of the ball and were made to chase shadows.

The first decent opening on goal, however, only came in the 18th minute when Musa Nyatama fired a 20-yard shot inches wide of the post.

In the 29th minute AmaZulu were reduced to ten men when Mbulelo Mabizela was shown a straight red card for elbowing Alfred Ndengane in the face while jostling for a position at a set-piece.

Three minutes later Celtic took the lead when some great individual skill from Mukuka Mulenga allowed him to dribble his way into the box, but he saw his 16-yard shot saved onto the post. Lerato Lamola, however, was there to tap home the rebound, 1-0.

Celtic controlled the rest of the half, but could not add to the scoreline before the break.

The home side doubled their lead two minutes after the restart when Carlington Nyadombo headed the ball into his own net attempting to clear a right wing cross from Dumisani Zuma, 2-0.

In the 56th minute Celtic were afforded the chance to put the result beyond doubt when the referee adjudged Robyn Johannes to have blocked a Keegan Ritchie free inside the area with his arms and awarded a penalty.

Lamola stepped up and calmly chipped the keeper from the penalty spot, 3-0.

In the 66th minute Zuma almost made it four for the Phunya Sele Sele, but his shot from the edge of the box struck the woodwork.

Celtic took their foot off the pedal after that and cruised to their sixth win of the season which lifts them to seventh on the table with 24 points while AmaZulu remain rooted to the bottom of the table.
