Orlando Pirates' eSports captain and coach, Abu Akhalwaya, won the VS Gaming World Xbox Championship over the weekend.
The big-money tournament, which is regarded as the biggest FIFA tournament on the continent, boasted a prize of R100 000.
The Pirates star had to overcome another of South Africa's top players in Kaylan "Kaylan" Moodley, who recently represented SA at FIFA 20 Summer Cup, where he finished in fourth place.
"Can't believe I just won @VSGamingWorld at the age of 35 with kidney failure," Akhalwaya wrote on his official Twitter account.
"Well done to all my opponents and well done to @Kaylan_fut still the best."
The Sea Robbers also took to social media to congratulate their star, saying, "Congratulations to our Captain/Coach @Pirates_Abu who has won Africa's biggest FIFA tournament - the @VSGamingWorld Xbox Championship. After defeating tournament's favourite @Kaylan_fut, he takes home R100K @8zaidy8 takes 3rd place. Well Done!"
