Euro Clubs To Return For Mahlambi?
Phakamani Mahlambi has two goals and an assist from his two games back from injury following a lengthy layoff, and the European clubs that were interested in him before will no doubt be monitoring his progress.
The 19-year-old sustained a horror knee injury back in February that kept him out for 10 months while he worked hard to get back to full fitness, and his efforts were rewarded last weekend as he grabbed his first career brace and landed the Man of the Match award against Free State Stars.
As reported in the latest issue of Soccer Laduma, big European clubs were interested in the teenager prior to his injury, although things were brought to a halt after he was sidelined.
While the player focuses on getting back to his best now, his reprentative, Glyn Binkin, has confirmed two sides that were monitoring him.
Binkin told the Siya crew, “There was interest from both Galatasaray and Benfica prior to his injury, so we’ll see what happens now that he’s fit again. The most important issue for him was to fully complete his rehabilitation in order to strengthen his knee and surrounding areas.
“Once that was 100 percent right, he needed to focus on getting his place back in the Bidvest Wits team and assisting them on the field of play. The Bidvest Wits medical staff members have been excellent.”
