Kostadin Papic has emerged as one of the early frontrunners for the vacant coaching job at Platinum Stars, as the club will be expected to rope in a new mentor for the 2017/18 season.
Dikwena announced on Monday morning that the club has parted ways with Cavin Johnson, who has been at the helm of the team. According to Dikwena’s statement, the club decided not to renew Johnson’s contract which was due to expire at the end of June.
Siya sources close to the North West outfit confirmed that Papic has emerged as a frontrunner for the Dikwena coaching job. Papic led the technical team of Royal Eagles in the NFD last season as the club’s head coach, although he was disrupted in his duties due to a back problem which required him to return to Serbia for surgery prior to the end of the season.
According to sources, Papic has been targeted for a coaching role at Dikwena alongside the likes of the team’s former coach Allan Freese, as well as the current assistant coach, Willem Jackson.
