Chiefs Slap Khune With Social Media Ban?

Kaizer Chiefs’ management allegedly banned their goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune, from posting on his social media accounts for the time being.

The Siya crew have been informed that the shot-stopper, who has been a key player for the Amakhosi this season, was told earlier this month that he should stop posting, although was reportedly given no exact reason as to why. The length of his ban is unknown at this stage.
Khune sent out some tweets following the 1-1 draw with Golden Arrows on May 6th where he seemed to criticise some fans for the way that he was being treated on social media.
However, he apologised shortly after – seemingly after being told to by the Amakhosi – with a statement that read:
"On Sunday 7 May, I sent a few tweets out of anger and frustration from my account. The action was triggered by messages received from some of my followers, some of whom were apportioning the blame of our 1-1 drawn match against Arrows towards me.
"The club has always emphasised that we need to be mindful when we use social media and should never tweet when emotional.
"I regret sending the tweets and would like to profusely apologise to all those followers who were offended. #Amakhosi4Life#Love&Peace."
Khune, a regular on Twitter and Instagram, hasn’t uploaded anything new on either of his platforms since May 12th, the day before the 1-0 defeat to Polokwane City.

The crew reached out to both the Vina Maphosa, Chiefs' Corporate Communications Manager, as well as the player's agency, Newton Sports, however, neither were available for comment at this stage.
