The Belgian football coach, who found himself in the midst of arrest scare, has left South Africa to continue with his coaching duties at his club.

Ivan Minnaert, who previously coached in Mzansi, was arrested by the police in Limpopo on Wednesday, as confirmed by Siya sources.

Minnaert had a stint as the head coach of Black Leopards in the National First Division last year. Last December, it was reported by the Siya crew that the Belgian coach claimed to have allegedly been assaulted by one of the officials at the Limpopo club.

As confirmed by the coach at the time, the official allegedly assaulted him after the club allegedly sent him a letter terminating his contract.

Minnaert had only been in charge at Leopards for six games, when he parted ways with the club under controversial circumstances.

Before leaving Mzansi at the end of last year, Minnaert confirmed having opened up a case with the police, after alleging that he had been hit by a car that he was given when he joined the Limpopo club.

Minnaert is currently in charge of Rwandan side, Rayon Sports FC. The coach had been allowed by his club earlier this week to come to Mzansi to honour court summons, when he was caught for an alleged theft case.

“The former Leopards coach was arrested on Wednesday, but was later released on the same day. It has been alleged that he failed to return some of the things belonging to Leopards, when he parted ways with the club,” a source told the Siya crew.

It has been confirmed to the Siya crew that the 51-year-old coach has been released on warning. The coach is back in Rwanda to resume his coaching duties with his team. He is scheduled to appear at the Polokwane Magistrate court on April 24.
