The Siya crew can confirm that Ayanda Patosi is currently at home in South Africa, according to his representatives.
It was reported by the Siya crew on Thursday that the attacking midfielder has gone AWOL from his Belgian club, Lokeren, again.
Former Mamelodi Sundowns’ Belgian goalkeeper, Glenn Verbauwhede, has confirmed to the Siya crew that he is representing the Khayelitsha-born player and that he is the rightful person to speak about his whereabouts.
Following a stint with Maritzburg United last year, Verbauwhede retired from playing professional football and began a career as a players’ agent.
Verbauwhede, 31, says Patosi is in the Mother City and attending to a pressing family issue.
“Ayanda is back in South Africa to attend to one of his parents who has health issues. Obviously, he could have handled the situation more professionally by picking up the phone and let Lokeren know what was happening but, as his representatives, we are working on mending the relationship. The boy panicked when he heard about his ill parent and rushed back to South Africa but, like I said, we are working on sorting out the problem because he is a very good player,” said Verbauwhede.
The contract of Patosi, 24, will come to an end with Lokeren in July.
