Young South African midfielder, Thabang Maponya, made his debut in Spain last month as he came on as a substitute for Caudal Deportivo.
The 21-year-old joined Caudal back in February after impressing the club during a trial spell, however, has spent a number of games on the bench as his side look to secure their place in Segunda B.
Now, with the club three points clear of automatic relegation, Maponya can breathe a little bit easier and is happy to have made his first appearance for the club since making the move to Spain.
He told the Siya crew, “I was happy to finally come on after being on the bench for eight games since arriving… It was an electrifying experience to play in front of a massive crowd, despite the defeat that we suffered.”
Caudal have two games left this season, against Celta de Vigo II and Pontevedra and will need to put in a couple of big performances if they are to get results against two clubs gunning for promotion.
Maponya was an unused substitute in the 2-0 win over Palencia this weekend but will be hoping to pick up more minutes before the season comes to an end.
