Moyes To Lure Pienaar To Spain?

South African midfielder, Steven Pienaar, appears to be edging closer to leaving Everton, after reports that his former boss, David Moyes, wants to lure him to Spain.

The 32-year-old, who has only made a handful of appearances for the Toffees this season, could reportedly join Moyes' new club Real Sociedad on loan this January, as claimed by Daily Mail.

Schillo started his career in the Mother City with Ajax Cape Town, before moving to Ajax Amsterdam in 2001. He then went on to spend a season with Borussia Dortmund before joing Everton in 2008, after a season on loan at the Toffees.

Since then, he has become one of the most recognisable South African players ever, despite retiring from international football in 2012.

However, despite his lack of international commitments, Pienaar has fallen off the map this season, due to his poor injury record and with stars such as Ross Barkley, Bryan Oviedo and Kevin Mirallas keeping him out of the Toffees' starting line-up.

In fact, Pienaar has missed 109 days of action since September 2013, which includes twenty-two matches. And, at the age of 32, youth is not really on his side anymore.

Despite recent praise from Everton boss, Roberto Martinez, who misses "a little magic" from the Mzansi star, Moyes is understood to be keen to bring Schillo to Spain.

The midfielder is contracted to Everton until June 2016, but perhaps a change of environment - even if only for six months - would be best for his future.

Pienaar Facing Further Injury Setback

Pienaar may be looking to take the next step of his career to Spain, where he will be exposed to a new country and a different culture, as well as get more time on the pitch. Not to mention, he would have the opportunity to come up against the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

'Schillo' has made 222 appearances for Everton, scoring 26 goals and making 48 assists in the process.
