Jali Wants Out, Sundowns Watching
South Africa’s Belgian-based midfield man, Andile Jali, reportedly wants out of KV Oostende - news that has alerted Absa Premiership champions, Mamelodi Sundowns.
Jali is yet to feature for Oostende this season due to an injury that he reportedly picked up during the offseason, and he has also been linked with a move to English Championship side, Leeds United.
While a move to England could prove to be difficult due to the United Kingdom’s strict work permit rules, reports in Belgium suggest that the club are willing to sell him should the right offer be put on the table.
It seems unlikely that 26-year-old former Orlando Pirates star, who still has two years left to run on his contract, would be allowed to leave for free given that Oostende paid around R15m for him, however, it doesn’t seem to have stopped Sundowns monitoring his situation.
As reported in this week’s issue of Soccer Laduma, Jali did speak to members of Sundowns’ technical team during his offseason break in South Africa, and it comes as no surprise that rumours of a return to Tshwane for the former University of Pretoria man are on the rise.
There is currently less than a week left of the Belgian transfer window – it closes on 31 August – so if a move is to come about for the midfielder then there isn’t much time left for it to happen.
