Swedish second division outfit, GAIS, have confirmed the signing of young South African winger, Luther Singh, who has been given a contract at the club alongside compatriot, Pule Maraisane.
The Siya crew reported recently that the 18-year-old was training with the Swedish outfit as he looked to secure himself a move to Europe, and it seems that the Stars of Africa graduate did enough to impress during his spell there.
His new head coach, Per Ljung, told the club’s website, “He is an accomplished breakthroughs player, who is strong in the tempo changes and has a good shot.”
Singh, who trained with both the club’s U21s and their first time during his trial in Sweden, is now waiting for his Swedish work permit so that he can start trying to get himself in contention for the senior squad.
It appears that some kind of relationship has now been formed between Farouk Khan’s SoA academy and GAIS, with Ljung going on to say, “I was last there in 2009 and visited the academy. Players linked to the Stars of Africa possess clear a football talent, but they also often have a story of fates shaped by major family tragedies or exceptional socio-economic difficulties.
“The South African College's vision and holistic approach rhymes very well with GAIS’ own values and societal responsibility. It is therefore great that our cooperation continues and bears fruit.”
