The 21-year-old has established himself as a vital part of Brondby’s team over the last three seasons, playing 79 league games for the club, since the beginning of the 2013/14 campaign, and his side are reluctant to lose him.
It was reported recently that Austrian giants, Rapid, had shown a keen interest in trying to land the talented midfield man, however, the Siya crew can now report that they have had their first offer rebuffed.
According to Siya sources, Brondby, who are currently challenging for a spot in the UEFA Europa League, do not want to let one of their key players leave, and will only entertain offers of €1 million (R16m) for the South African U23 international.
It remains to be seen whether the Vienna-based outfit will return with an improved offer for Phiri in the coming weeks, though the player was dealt a blow this week when visa issues meant that he will miss the clash against Hibernian in the Europe League this week.
