Bafana Bafana International To See Out 1860 Munich Stay

By Soccer Laduma - Feb 10, 2017 01:54 PM

Bafana Bafana international, Daylon Claasen is set to see out the remaining months of his contract in Germany after his club rejected an offer for his services.

The 27-year-old currently plies his trade for second-tier Bundesliga-outfit, 1860 Munich, and is currently in the last five months of his deal with the club.

As previously reported, Claasen is currently assessing his European options as he looks to take the next step in his professional footballing career.

However, a Siya source has revealed that the player had a chance to move on from the club in the January transfer window, after Munich’s league-rivals, Hamburger Kickers, made an offer for the player’s services.

The offer was subsequently rejected by the club and now Claasen will be set to see out the remaining months of his contract.

The former Ajax Cape Town winger left Mzansi in 2008 and joined up with Dutch giants, Ajax Amsterdam. After plying his trade for the U21 team, the player moved to Belgian-outfit, Lierse SK, Lech Poznan in Poland and thereafter joined up with Munich in Germany.

Claasen’s deal will expire at the end of the current 2016/17 season and indications are that the player is currently looking for a new challenge in his career.

The player is now free to pen a pre-contract with any interested suitor and it remains to be seen where his next footballing destination will be.

@The_ultimate_Tumelo Club soccer dynamics are different from national team ones. Clubs aim for short term success i.e winning every prize at stake in the pipeline. Our national team should aim for medium term success i.e winning the ultimate prize and therefore for national team investing in youthful players with a good progression feeder plan is way to go whereas for a club tried and tested experienced players is best way to pursue.
