There is no surprise that Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo is at the top of the list after all he has achieved at Santiago Bernabeu. Since 2009, Ronaldo has netted more than 400 goals for the Spanish side and gone on to win three UEFA Champions League titles with the club. Los Blancos' record goalscorer moved from Manchester United for a fee of £80 million (R1.3 million).
Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luka Modric is the club's second best buy from the English top flight, according to FFT. The Croatian international has formed a formidable partnership in the centre of the park with Toni Kroos in recent years, but is often overlooked by many. The 31-year-old has won multiple titles with Los Blancos, and is regarded as one of the team's unsung heroes.
Former Bayern Munich and Liverpool star Xabi Alonso was loved during his time in the Spanish capital, so much so that FFT rated him as the club's third best by from the EPL. The midfielder was Florentino Perez's first signing as president of Real Madrid, and the player helped the club lift their 10th Champions League title.
Others who made FFT's list are Steve McManaman, Gareth Bale, Arjen Robben, David Beckham, Alvaro Arbeloa and Ricardo Carvalho.
