A total of 19 goals were scored amongst the 16 teams that took part in the most recent round of the tournament, with two games going into extra time and one going all the way through to a penalty shootout.
Both Soweto giants head into the quarterfinal draw tonight for the first time since 2014 after Chiefs suffered a scare against Acornbush United and then Orlando Pirates saw off Free State Stars, while the defending champions, SuperSport United, remain in the running.
Jomo Cosmos, who saw off Bidvest Wits in some penalty drama, are the only non-Absa Premiership side still left in the hat for the last eight, with Acornbush, KwaDukuza United and Mbombela United all being put to the sword.
Mamelodi Sundowns' bad run of form continued as the 2015 champions were knocked out by Golden Arrows.
The draw will take place at the SuperSport studios at 19h30 this evening as the eight clubs await their fate and see who stands between them and a spot in the semis.
