The Amakhosi booked their spot in the next round of the competition with a comfortable 3-0 win over Stellenbosh FC earlier this month, and last night found who they will face for a spot in the quarter-finals.
Having all but clinched the league title in the Mpumalanga, Acornbush set about their first giant-killing in the round of 32 as they beat Absa Premiership title contenders, Cape Town City, 1-0.
Now, after securing the biggest game in the club’s history, the Nelspruit-based club will be looking to try and take the scalp South Africa’s most successful cup team.
Lebese, who has won the Nedbank with Chiefs before, says that they will approach the minnows with caution when they lock horns next month.
He told Chiefs’ official website, “We’re happy with the draw to be honest… Whether we get a PSL side or a team from the lower divisions doesn’t really matter, because when you play in a cup game anything can happen. From what I know about them is that they’re a good team in the ABC Motsepe League and we should approach the game with caution and give it our all to progress to the next stage.”
