Hlatshwayo: The Coach Saw Something In Me
Thulani Hlatshwayo Proud To Be Wits Captain
Bidvest Wits defender, Thulani Hlatshwayo, has explained why Gavin Hunt decided to hand him the captain’s armband.
At the start of the new season, Hlatshwayo was made the captain by coach Gavin Hunt and on Saturday he lifted his first trophy for Wits when they won the MTN8 after beating Mamelodi Sundowns. The soft-spoken Bafana Bafana defender has now told journalists that he feels honoured that his coach saw something in him and made him captain.
"You know outside the field of play I am a very quiet person but I am happy that the coach saw something in me and made me captain,” he explained.
Hlatshwayo went on to say that the armband has given him extra motivation and that we can expect the Students to bring home more trophies this season.
“That has motivated me to work extra harder and achieve things with the team. This is the first of many trophies which we want to win this season. I am really honoured to captain a team like Wits,” the former Ajax Cape Town defender concluded.
