Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo has claimed the Brazil captain has put new contract talks at Barca on hold for the time being, with his current deal expiring in June 2018.
The club are reportedly keen to tie Neymar down for an unknown extended amount of years, but the 23-year-old is said to be in no mood to rush the talks.
As stated in the newspaper, the forward wants to sort out his issues back home in Brazil before signing a new deal at Barcelona, following accusations of tax evasion.
Neymar's transfer to the Catalan club is also still under investigation, it being reported that his representatives may have mislead the public regarding the transfer fee.
The newspaper also claimed Neymar's reluctance to sign a new deal may be his way of seeking as much help from Barcelona as possible regarding his current situation.
The Selecao skipper was linked with a move to the Red Devils during the latest transfer window, with the player admitting United had made contact with his agent.
Sky Sports pundit and Spanish football expert Guillem Balague also recently suggested that Neymar may seek a future move away from Barcelona in order to become the world's best player.
