A shock report has claimed that Neymar was reportedly promised by FC Barcelona that the Catalan club would sell superstar Lionel Messi.
The Brazilian, who joined Paris Saint-Germain for a world record fee earlier this month, spent three years at the Blaugrana, where he scored 105 goals in 186 matches.
Neymar made it clear he wanted to leave Barca before his transfer to the French giants, despite playing a full pre-season with the Spanish giants.
French TV programme Telefoot, founded in 1977, have now claimed that when Neymar joined Barca, he was promised the club would sell eventually Messi in order for him to become the star.
The report claims that the Spanish side were planning to sell Messi to Manchester City, a club he has been heavily linked with in this transfer window.
The move did not materialise while Neymar was still playing in Spain, which is perhaps one of the reasons he sought a move to PSG.
Neymar has started life well in France, scoring three goals and assisting a further three strikes in first three matches.
