FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi is experiencing the best-ever start to a calendar year in his career.
The Argentine already scored 14 goals and assisted a further 10 for the Catalan giants in 2015.
Both stats individually are better than the ones Messi had ever reached before, and proves how spectacular his start to the new year has been.
His former record after 11 games came in 2013 and 2011, where he has scored 13 goals respectively. His previous best assist tally after 11 appearances was also in 2011, with eight assists for his teammates.
In fact, 2011 was his previous best start to a calendar year - having been involved in 21 goals overall. This season, however, he has already bettered that stat by three goals.
He is also already six goals ahead of his tally from 2012, when he ended the calendar year with a world record of 91 goals for club and country.
Messi’s next chance to add to his tally comes against Malaga on Saturday.
However, Barcelona need to be at their best as Malaga are one of only two opponents that Luis Enrique’s has side failed to score against in La Liga this season.
