FC Barcelona’s La Liga title was Lionel Messi’s 22nd club trophy, while Cristiano Ronaldo has only won 16 despite being three years older.
The Argentine scored the important winner in their 1-0 victory at Atletico Madrid, which clinched the title for his side.
It was Barcelona’s seventh La Liga title since Messi debuted in 2004. He has also won three Champions League titles, two Copa del Reys, six Supercopa de Espanas, two European Supercups and two FIFA Club World Cups.
Ronaldo, meanwhile, won nine of his 16 trophies with Manchester United before moving to Real.
He won three Premier League titles, one Champions League, one FA Cup, two League Cups, one Community Shield and one FIFA Club World Cup at Old Trafford.
Since moving to Bernabeu, he added one La Liga title, two Copa del Reys, one Supercopa de Espana, one Champions League, one UEFA Super Cup and one FIFA Club World Cup.
Messi could extend his trophy advantage over Ronaldo even further if Barca lift the Copa del Rey and Champions League titles over the next few weeks - with the club already in both finals.
