Tokelo Rantie had two clear cut opportunities to grab a goal in Bournemouth’s 1-1 draw up against Nottingham Forest. The speedy striker latched onto a terrible back-pass by Andy Reid and raced clear, but the South African was denied by the Forest goalkeeper throwing himself in bravely at the striker's feet. Rantie then drove another shot towards the far post which Forest shot-stopper pushed away brilliantly. The Bafana player was a constant threat and will feel that he did deserve to get on the score-sheet.

Bongani Khumalo and Dean Furman both played as their Doncaster Rover’s side were thrashed 4-1 away at Reading. Danny Guthrie gave the home side the lead in the 11th minute before Doncaster’s Theo Robinson equalised with 15 minutes left before half-time. Reading grabbed the lead once more nine minutes later through Adam Le Fondre. The home side then scored in the 80th and late in stoppage time with goals from Garath McCleary and Pavel Pogrebnyak respectively.

Kgosi Ntlhe only played 37 minutes before being replaced by Mark Little in Peterborough United’s 1-0 home win over Shrewsbury Town at London Road Ground. Peterborough substitute Nathaniel Mendez-Laing collected a pass from skipper Tommy Rowe, cut inside from the left flank and steered a 20-yard shot past goalkeeper Chris Weale.

Thulani Serero played 90 minutes in Ajax Amsterdam’s hard-fought 1-1 draw away at Twente Eschede. Ajax had to wait until the 80th minute before Kolbeinn Sigthorsson equalised after the home side had taken a 22nd minute lead through Luc Castaignos.

Right-back Anele Ngcongca’s Genk ran out 4-0 home win over Lierse at the Cristal Arena. The South African defender put in another solid performance and played the full 90 minutes as his side dismantled a Lierse outfit who had no answers to their hosts.

Also in Belgium, Ayanda Patosi was in action for Lokeren as they drew 2-2 with Gent and scored the second goal for the home side on the stroke of half-time. That gave Lokeren a 2-0 advantage but Gent responded after the break as Yassine El Ghanassy pulled a goal back and Ivory Coast's Yaya Alfa Soumahoro struck in stoppage time to snatch a point.
