Angel Di Maria’s father, Miguel Di Maria, has now slammed Real Madrid and revealed why his son left the Los Blancos.
According to Di Maria snr. his son ‘was never appreciated’ at Bernabeu and the club didn’t value him enough.
“Many newspapers have already interpreted the person who is my son and why he isn’t at Madrid,” he told Marca.
“Angel won five or six trophies with Real Madrid and despite two enhanced contracts, the money originally agreed didn’t come.
“Angel was never appreciated. It was like they didn’t want him in the club and showed him no affection.”
Miguel Di Maria confirms his son always had to prove himself and the club didn’t offer him the salary he wanted.
“He always had to win a place to get past other players, such as Gareth Bale,” he continued.
“My son is tired of always fighting, demonstrating and showing everything.
“They never offered €6m. The last bid was €5m, which was €1.5m more. The first problems arose for economic reasons.
“He went to Madrid for a salary and it was halved.”
Manchester United, meanwhile, treated his son well and Di Maria’s father insisted the Champions League champions have lost a key player.
“Angel is happy at Man Utd. He is also treated well economically for what was offered by Madrid,” Miguel Di Maria added.
“Real Madrid loses a key, dominant player who at any time can make a play and win the game.”
