Cristiano Ronaldo says that Real Madrid have set off on the perfect start after demolishing Galatasaray 6-1 in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
"Things couldn't have started better for us," he said.
"Scoring six goals is really good and will give us a lot of confidence.
“We wanted to start well against a good team who showed their ability in the first 20 minutes, they created chances."
As far as CR7 himself is concerned, it was more a sense of carrying on where he left off, than starting up again.
The Portuguese superstar’s goal record since moving to Madrid simply beggars belief.
His hat-trick against the hapless Turks was the 21st of his Real Madrid career. And if that does not sound crazy enough, he has scored 206 goals for Los Blancos in 204 games.
It is highly unlikely that Real Madrid will ever have such a prolific scorer in their ranks, and whether you are a fan of the giants from the Spanish capital or not, you should count yourself lucky to be living through his majesty.
It could well be that by the time he retires, CR7 will be considered the greatest Real Madrid player in history.
Meanwhile, manager Carlo Ancelotti was a satisfied man, after passing his first European test as boss of Los Blancos with flying colours.
"It was a good game," Ancelotti said.
"The result was fantastic. We suffered a little during the first-half. But after Isco's goal the game became a little easier for us.
"It's good for us to improve our confidence. It is not an easy stadium to play at where the pressure is so high.
