Despite a positive start from Bayern, where they were doing most of the attacking, it was Wolfsburg who got the first chance of the game.

In the 8th minute, Ricardo Rodriguez delivered in a cross for Wolfsburg and Luiz Gustavo headed it at goal but Manuel Neuer was able to save.

In the 11th minute Arjen Robben found Bastian Schweinsteiger near the six yard box, but his header went wide.

Wolfsburg had an another good chance in the 19th minute as Marcel Schäfer tried a shot from just outside the box, but it went wide to the right.

In the 23rd minute David Alaba tried a long range free kick from 35 yards out, but it narrowly missed.

Thomas Müller tried a shot from a tough angle in the 29th minute, but Diego Benaglio in the Wolsburg goal saved.

Arjen Robben had his shot blocked from close range in the 43rd minute, and a minute later Jerome Boateng's shot was blocked too, as the Wolfsburg defence closed down quickly.

The first-half ended goalless, with Bayern doing most of the pressing, and neither side holding back in the tackles.

In the second minute of the second-half, Alaba tried a shot from a free kick, but his shot was just too high, as Bayern continued to press.

Bayern looked to have a penalty in the 48th minute, as Robben was brought down, but the referee waved play on.

Wolfsburg had a golden opportunity to take the lead in the 58th minute, but Schäfer's header at the far post went over the goal.

Bayern finally took the lead in the 61st minute, as Müller connected with a low cross from Franck Ribéry, to make it 1-0.

It should have been 2-0 in the 80th minute, Mario Mandžukic broke free, and just when it looked to be a one-on-one with the goalkeeper, Naldo tracked back to make a sliding block.

In the 85th minute Naldo had an opportunity to score for Wolfsburg but his header was well dealt with by Neuer.
