Chelsea Striker, Didier Drogba, has revealed who his idol is and admitted he even tried emulating his playing style.
Drogba, who picked up the 2015 Football Writers’ Association Tribute award on Sunday, told the press that Thierry Henry was the player he always idolised.
Drogba Wants To Extend Chelsea Stay
The Ex- Gunner is Arsenal’s all-time leading goalscorer and Drogba admitted that he used to watch the Frenchman throughout his career, as he tried to emulate his style.
“He was the kind of player I always wanted to look like by scoring all the goals and winning all the trophies with Arsenal, Barcelona and France,” Drogba told reporters, as quoted by Metro.
“He was an example and an inspiration to me, so to have my name next to his means a lot to me.”
Drogba returned to Stamford Bridge in the summer, but has had limited starts for the Blues under Jose Mourinho due to Diego Costa’s wonderful form.
The Ivorian has made 25 appearances for the club this season, but has only played a total of 900 minutes.
