The Portuguese added his second title since joining United ahead of the 2016/17 campaign, having already won the FA Community Shield with his new side.
Sunday's EFL Cup triumph takes his trophy haul to 24 – six with Porto, eight with Chelsea, five with Inter Milan, three with Real Madrid and now two with the Red Devils.
However, Mourinho is still way off legendary United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, who won twice as many trophies as the Portuguese during his illustrious career. The retired Scotsmann collected 10 titles with Aberdeen before joining United, where he added another 38 pieces of silverware to his cabinet.
Mircea Lucescu has lifted 32 titles during stints at Dinamo and Rapid Bucharest, Galatasaray, Besiktas, Shakhtar Donetsk and Zenit St Petersburg.
The late Valeriy Lobanovskyi is another legendary coach and the Ukrainian claimed 29 trophies during two stints with Dynamo Kiev.
Ottmar Hitzfeld, with 28, and Jock Stein, with 26 titles, are the only other two managers who have lifted more trophies than Mourinho.
Giovanni Trapattoni, who allegedly applied for the Bafana Bafana job, won 22 trophies during his long coaching career, while Walter Smith, Pep Guardiola (both 21) and Bob Paisley (20) also make the list.
