Mandla Masango’s stunning volley against Ghana in the 2015 African Cup of Nations Group C final clash, is making rounds in Spain, and has been compared to Colombian star, James Rodriguez’s famous volley in the 2-0 victory over Uruguay in last year's FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
The Kaizer Chiefs star hit a perfect volley to give Bafana Bafana the lead against the Black Stars, and even though it wasn’t enough to secure the three points, the goal was definitely one of the highlights of this year’s AFCON.
Spanish publication, AS , has picked up Masango’s stunner, saying the goal is similar to “James’ volley for Colombia in the World Cup this summer”.
The Real Madrid star won the FIFA Puskas award for Goal of the Year, and Masango has perhaps ensured an early entry in this year’s collection of the best goals in football. So far, it definitely has to be in the running for the Goal of the Tournament at AFCON.
Despite Bafana’s overall disappointing performance at the Africa Cup of Nations, at least Masango made sure that South African football is making rounds in Spain.
