Former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana striker, Thembinkosi Fanteni, has joined Steenberg United in the ABC Motsepe League.
Fanteni, 32, has struggled in his search for a club in the PSL and NFD, in the past few seasons. ‘Terror’ was last seen in the PSL during his stint with Bidvest Wits in the 2012/13 season.
The Paarl-born player had unsuccessful trials with various clubs, including Chippa United, Maritzburg United, Bloemfontein Celtic, Moroka Swallows and AmaZulu.
Steenberg coach, Mike Lukhubeni, confirmed to the Siya crew that the experienced player has joined the third tier outfit from the Mother City.
“We do have ‘Terror’ Fanteni with the team. He might get a chance to play for us tonight. But we’ll see. He is our player,” said Lukhubeni.
Steenberg are scheduled to play against Glendene United at Philippi Stadium from 19h30 tonight.
