The Siya crew recently reported that Libyan outfit Al Hilal Benghazi had shown interest in SuperSport United teenage winger, Shandre Campbell, who is enjoying his breakthrough season with the Tshwane side.
It's understood Matsatsantsa are open to selling the 18-year-old abroad, with his agent Mike Makaab making it public knowledge that conversations that have taken place around Campbell's future are to see him go to Europe.
The youngster was also called up to the national U20 camp in a build-up to qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations in that age group, and this will certainly hike his stock even further amidst talks that even crosstown rivals Mamelodi Sundowns are believed to be monitoring the situation closely.
Soccer Laduma has been informed that Al Hilal attempted an audacious bid to try lure Campbell to their club, but it's a discussion that didn't go too far according to sources at the club with Libya not the ideal destination.
Al Hilal got to watch Campbell at close proximity during the CAF Confederation Cup group stage having been in the same group as SuperSport.
The academy graduate played the full 90 minute in the home and away fixtures for the Premier Soccer League outfit, and it's understood this is when Al Hilal took a liking and opted to enquire and subsequently attempt to make a bid.
SuperSport are well-versed with doing deals abroad having sold several of their young players overseas from the days of Kamohelo Mokotjo and Kermit Erasmus – and they want Campbell to go the same route.
