Stellenbosch FC have wasted no time in identifying a possible replacement for their in-demand captain Deano Van Rooyen.
As reported by the Siya crew in edition 1358 of Soccer Laduma that Van Rooyen is amongst a host of Stellies players who have attracted interest from Gauteng's biggest clubs.
Since breaking into the club's first team in 2016, Van Rooyen has made 103 appearances in all competitions for the club as one of their most consistent performers, which warrants the growing interest in his services.
Word reaching the Siya crew is that Stellies are resigned to possibly losing their skipper at the end of the 2023/24 campaign, and as a result, have set their sights on defender Tholo Thabang Matuludi who currently turns out for Polokwane City FC.
Still in his maiden DStv Premiership season, Matuludi has been impressive for Rise and Shine and has made 22 appearances in all competitions so far this season.
With Polokwane City unlikely to want to lose the player on a free transfer, they have offered the player a long-term contract meaning that Stellies would have to negotiate a transfer fee to land the player.
The Siya crew understands that the player is open to a switch to the Mother City, although that would depend on whether the two clubs can reach an agreement.
