Chiefs Alerted As Fakel Announce Termination of Cele's Contract

Russian club Fakel Voronezh have confirmed the termination of Thabo Cele's contract due to serious health issues within his family.

The club and the midfielder mutually agreed to part ways, with the decision being made in light of Cele's personal circumstances. The 26-year-old midfielder, who had joined Fakel in 2023, will now only be eligible to play for teams in South Africa for the remainder of his contract.

The statement from Fakel Voronezh read, "We wish the player good luck in his future career, and health to Cele's family. All the best to you, Thabo!"

The club has expressed full support for Cele during this challenging time, and the decision allows him to be closer to his loved ones while continuing his professional career.

Before his departure from Russia, Cele had been linked with a move to South Africa's Betway Premiership, with reports indicating that he was set to return to the league in January 2025.

The Siya crew had previously reported that Cele was in talks to join a top South African club, with Kaizer Chiefs among the clubs interested in his services. This contract termination now paves the way for Cele to make his way back to the Premiership, where he could soon find himself donning the colours of a new club.

Cele's next move will be closely watched by South African football fans, as the midfielder has a solid reputation from his time in Portugal. His return to the Premiership could add a significant boost to whichever team secures his signature.
