After completing a full 90 minutes in the Scottish Cup over the weeked, Zungu had to settle for a spot on among the substitutes against Standard Liege on Thursday evening at Ibrox Stadium.
The first half was played at a high tempo as James Tavernier and Connor Goldson netted for Rangers while Maxime Lestienne and Duje Cop were on target for the visitors.
However, Rangers got the winning goal just after the hour mark courtesy of a strike from Scott Arfield.
With the Scottish Premiership side looking to see out the clock, manager Steven Gerrard introduced Zungu for Arfield in the 86th minute for his first taste of Europa League football.
Zungu has now made three appearances under Gerrard since joining the club in January and he will look to get more minutes in the weekend's league encounter away to Ross County.
Elsewhere, Thakgalo Leshabela was an unused substitute for Leicester City in their Europa League loss to Zorya.
