Black Leopards did not fall into the same trap as Golden Arrows as they defeated North West University 4-0 to advanced to the Nedbank Cup Last 16 on Sunday afternoon.
Despite facing lower league opposition, Leopards interim coach Allan Clarke named a strong side, with Mwape Musonda the only real big name rested for the encounter.
The hosts got off to the perfect start when Ngele bagged his second goal of the season to put Leopards after just seven minutes into the contest.
It was one-way traffic in the first half but Leopards should have had a couple more goals in the opening 20 minutes had it not been for the poor finishing from Thabo Matlaba and Ngele.
The students did get a bit more joy in the latter stages of the first half, but Leopards shot-stopper Mendes was on hand to ensure his side did not concede in the opening half.
After losing Mendes to injury early in the second half, Leopards continue to attack and were rewarded with a second goal on the hour mark thruogh Thobani Mncwango's neat finish.
With the home side comfortably leading, Tswarelo Bereng saw his afternoon come to an end after 77 minutes as Thabiso Mokoena made his way on to the pitch to see out the remaining stages.
The victroy was wrapped up with nine minutes remaining as Mncwango completed his brace with a close-range finish after Lesedi Kapinga's initial strike was saved, before Tumelo Khutlang bagged the home side's fourth goal.
