Nedbank Cup Last 32 Report: Bloemfontein Celtic v AmaZulu 08 February 2020

Result: Bloemfontein Celtic 4-1 AmaZulu

Date: 08 February 2020

Venue: Dr Molemela Stadium

Bloemfontein Celtic booked a spot in the Nedbank Cup last 16 after rallying from behind to thump AmaZulu 4-1 at the Dr Molemela Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Ryan De Jong was the only survivor from Celtic's draw with Chippa United last time out while Usuthu had only goalkeeper Siyabonga Mbatha and Sibusiso Mabiliso remaining from their narrow win over Polokwane City last weekend.

After a relatively quiet opening, Siwelele came the close to finding the opener in the 25th minute after Justice Chabalala's header was just kept out by Mbatha on the goal-line.

Jozef Vukusic's charges eventually broke the deadlock 11 minutes before the break thanks to Chawapiwa, who slotted through the legs of Siwelele shot-stopper Sipho Chaine a through ball from Nhlanhla Vilakazi.

Celtic were fighting their way back to the game and were rewarded in first-half stoppage time after Morton guided a cross into his own net.

The sides were cagey in the opening exchanges of the second stanza but Celtic grabbed the lead in the 66th minute after Letlabika fired a powerful strike from close raneg after a flick-on from Victor Letsoalo.

Second-half substitute Milos Lacny almost levelled matters for AmaZulu with 14 minutes left with a strike from point-blank range but Chaine made a great save to keep the hosts head.

Usuthu were made to rue that miss as the hosts found two-goal cushion with six minutes remaining after Tumelo Njoti bagged the third with a strike from 12-yards after he was setup by Maloisane Ramasimong.

Celtic were awarded a penalty with a minute left after a shove inside the box, which allowed Neo Maema to step up and make 4-1 to send the Free State outfit to the last 16.

Celtic: Chaine, Rikhotso, Nyamende, Maloisane, Letlabika, Chabalala, Phalane, De Jongh, Maema, Njoti, Letsoalo.

Subs: Mabokgwane, Masuku, Mabena, Mashikinya, Luthuli, Baloyi, Matjila.

AmaZulu: Mbatha, Sikhakhane, Mabiliso, P.Gumede, Khumalo, Vilakazi, Morton, Ncobeni, Magaqa, Chawapihwa, Majoro.

Subs: Boshoff, Masilela, M.Gumede, Maduna, Lacny, Shangase, Ntuli.
