Images Of Mamelodi Sundowns' Big Win Over Al Ahly In April 2019

Mamelodi Sundowns have once again drawn Al Ahly in the quarterfinals of the CAF Champions League competition and Soccer Laduma takes a look at the Brazilians' last big win over the Egyptian giants.

Sundowns will travel away to Al Ahly on February 28, for the first leg of the quarterfinals, before gearing up for the clash in Pretoria on March 06.

But what happened the last time these two sides met?

Sundowns welcomed Al Ahly to Pretoria on April 06 last year, where the Brazilians completely demolished the Egyptian side, sending them packing with a 5-0 deficit.

However, in the second leg at the Borg El Arab Stadium on April 13, Al Ahly secured a 1-0 win over Sundowns, although futile, as Head Coach Pitso Mosimane's side progressed through to the semi-finals 5-1 on aggregate.

Indications are that we could see a repeat of Sundowns' home dominance, especially off the back of an unbeaten group stage run.

"You are going to get one of those; if you go away and you don't lose then you sort it out here (at home). If you score away, then it is much better, but here (in Pretoria) you know the story, it is very difficult for anybody to come and walk here," in the famous words of Head Coach Mosimane.
