While Chiefs recently offered Shabalala a new contract, the European interest comes at an opportune time, with the midfielder currently in excellent form.
"No it's not the same team. It's a different club all together but there has been interest from another European club for Mdu (Shabalala). The club is aware of that but they are not putting pressure on the player as he is enjoying his game at the moment and they are not entertaining any interest from other clubs, as things stand. But they are not sure how long they will hold onto him with the form that he is currently in," the source revealed to Siya crew.

Sources close to both the player and the club have confirmed the interest is believed to have played a role in Amakhosi acting quickly to offer Shabalala a new contract to avoid losing him.
"They are aware of the interest and they didn't want to lose him. Whether for free or not, and that's why they have offered him a new contract as a guarantee that he is still there player. Also, the coach believes in him and he doesn't want to lose him in this situation, where the team finds itself right now. So for now, though there is European interest in Shabalala, Chiefs are making sure they keep him," the source added.
Shabalala who will be turn 21 years old this month, has been influential for Chiefs this season, featuring in all the league games, and getting on the scoresheet four times this season.
Soccer Laduma reached out to Chiefs and the player's agent, Mike Makaab, for comment, but received no response at the time of publishing.
