The story
Mamelodi Sundowns' performance in their CAF Champions League final second leg loss to Pyramids FC, was preceded by a touch of elegance from the players.
Moving away from the classic team tracksuit pre-match look, the Masandawana players rocked a silky ensemble upon entering the 30 June Stadium.
The players wore a navy matching set, featuring a collarless shirt and cropped trousers, styled with white sneakers.
Sundowns fell to Pyramids FC with a 3-2 aggregate loss. The first leg ended 1-1 in Pretoria, with Pyramids gaining a key away goal. In the second leg, Pyramids won 2-1, scoring through Fiston Mayele and Ahmed Samy, while Iqraam Rayners netted a consolation goal for Sundowns.
Historically, the club has not emphasised what players wear before a match, but the elegance displayed on Sunday signifies Sundowns' willingness to embrace modern trends in fashion.
This trend is reflected in teams like AC Milan, PSG, Manchester City, and locally, Orlando Pirates (with Adidas) and, more recently, Kaizer Chiefs (with Old School).
