Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane thinks the Brazilians and Kaizer Chiefs can learn from Orlando Pirates and Eric Tinkler.
The Buccaneers have been the only team from Mzansi to fly the flag high in continental competition in recent years, having made it to the final of the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup in 2013 and 2015, respectively.
Although Pirates were unable to lift the trophy on both occasions, Mosimane believes the Soweto giants have done themselves proud and the country a favour as they have helped secure extra spots for South African teams in the competitions.
"I want to congratulate Eric (Tinkler) and Orlando Pirates for giving us a chance to go to CAF. They gave us the opportunity to go there again next year, after the accumulated points. They might have lost in the final, but they are doing the country a favour," Mosimane told Sundowns' official site.
"They gave us an opportunity to have two teams in the CAF Champions League, including Kaizer Chiefs, and gave Wits another opportunity to be in the Confederations Cup because they didn't win any cup last year.
"Pirates have really given us a chance to change our mentality in Africa. We are doing our best at Sundowns – it's difficult, but we have to try our best. I have always said that we should copy and congratulate Eric and Pirates for giving us the opportunity to be in CAF, and accumulating points for the country."
