Despite their recent defeat to Morocco in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, Bafana Bafana have moved up in the latest FIFA rankings.
The rankings were released on Thursday and Hugo Broos' side is now sitting in 68th spot, moving up just one spot from the last time the standings were released by the world football governing body. On the continent, Bafana Bafana are ranked 12th and will be hoping that they can move into the top 10 in the coming months.
Bafana recently squandered a lead and went down 2-1 to Morocco in an AFCON qualifier played in Rabat, which was followed by the head coach's utterances on the poor state of football in the country. This led to Broos publicly apologising.
Bafana Bafana will be involved in the COSAFA Cup in July, but the team is set to be made up of junior players as SAFA looks to start preparing a team that will play for the national under-23 team.
Bafana are scheduled to play against Liberia in back-to-back AFCON qualifiers in September.
