Telkom Knockout Final Match Report: SuperSport United 3-2 Platinum Stars 29 November 2014
Telkom Knockout Final   Result: SuperSport United 3-2 Platinum Stars   Date: 29 November 2014   Venue: Orlando Stadium   SuperSport United were crowned Telkom Knockout Champions after defeating Platinum Stars 3-2 at the Orlando Stadium.
SuperSport came close to opening the scoring in the ninth minute, as Dove Wome's powerful effort from distance forced Siyabonga Mpontshane into a fine save.
Stars then went even closer three minutes later, as Robert Ng'ambi saw Ronwen Williams off his line, but the shot-stopper got back in time to the effort away from goal.   It was the defending champions who took the lead midway through the first half, as some good work by Eleazar Rodgers and Mogakolodi Ngele ended up with Ng'ambi rifling the ball past a helpless Williams.   SuperSport eventually leveled matters in the 35th minute thanks to a calmly converted penalty from Clayton Daniels, after David Mathebula had been brought down in the area.   Both sides showed great attacking intent in the first half, while SuperSport's Williams has looked nervous when on the ball.   The second half failed to provide the same amount entertainment as the first half, while Stars a couple efforts from distance which failed to trouble Williams.   SuperSport should have went ahead in the 78th minute, as Wome got on the end of Lebogang Manyama's flick but failed score with only Mpontshane to beat.   No one could break the deadlock in the final stages of the 90 minutes and the game needed extra time.   It was SuperSport who took the lead 10 minutes into extra time courtesy of a another penalty from Daniels.   However, Dikwena leveled matters a minute as Ngele volleyed home a powerful effort from the edge of the area.   Stars then had a chance to take the lead just before end of first half extra time from the penalty spot but Elezar Rodgers had his penalty saved by Williams.   SuperSport restored their lead minutes after the break, as Thuso Phala eliminated one defender before firing into the far post to seal the Telkom Knockout Crown.   Here's how they lined up:   SuperSport United: Williams, Moloi, Daniels, September, Khumalo, Morton, Mkhabela, Phala, Manyama, Mathebula, Wome   Platinum Stars: Mpontshane, Mere, Gumede, Mpeta, Semenya, Madubanya, Mathe, Ng'ambi, Rodgers, Tshabalala,  Mabena
