Spanish La Liga

Result: Granada CF 0-0 Atletico Madrid

Date: 23 May 2015

Venue: Estadio Nuevo Arcángel

Atletico Madrid clinched third spot in La Liga after they drew 0-0 with Granada at the Estadio Nuevo Arcángel on Saturday evening.

Atletico came to close taking the lead in the 15th minute but Iturra sliced his close range effort wide of the target, after getting on the end of Koke's cross

Diego Simeone's side were presented with another chance three minutes later, but Antoinne Griezmann skewed his effort horribly wide from close range.

Chances were hard to come by in the opening 45 minutes, as both sides were guilty in picking the wrong pass in the final third.

Both sides were restricted long range efforts and neither goalkeeper was tested as they went into the halftime break with the score locked at 0-0.

Koke went close shortly after the halftime break but his hooked volley was cleared away Roberto Fernandez.

That proved to be the best chance of the second half, as Granada were quite content to settle for a point, which they need to secure their safety, while neither goalkeeper was fully tested in the second 45 minutes.

Despite Valencia picking a victory on the final day, Simeone's side only ever needed a point to secure final automatic Champions League spot.

Granada secured their top flight status with the point, as Almeria could get the victory they needed to secure their safety.

Other results:

Almeria (Relegated) 2-3 Valencia

Malaga 2-3 Sevilla

Athletic Bilbao 4-0 Villarreal

Levante 0-0 Elche

Celta Vigo 2-3 Espanyol

Eibar (Relegated) 3-0 Cordoba (Relegated)

Rayo Vallecano 2- 4 Real Sociedad
