Bayern Munich suffered a shock defeat as they went down 2-1 to Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday evening.
The hosts started brightly and should have been 1-0 up, after 13 minutes but Raffael failed to beat Sven Ulreich from close range.
Bayern carved out their first real opening after 30 minutes, but goalkeeper Yann Sommer was on hand to deny James Rodriguez from close range.
Nine minutes later, Gladbach were awarded a penalty when Thorgan Hazard was brought down. The Belgian winger stepped up and converted the spot-kick, 1-0.
The lead was doubled on the stroke of halftime, as an un-marked Matthias Ginter slotted home at the far post after some good work by Lars Stindl, 2-0.
The Bavarians dominated possession in the second half, but they were unable to carve out any serious chances in the final third.
In the 67th minute, Bayern went agonisingly close to pulling a goal back in the 67th minute, when Kingsley Coman struck the upright.
The visitors eventually reduced the deficit in the 74th minute, courtesy of a fine volley from Arturo Vidal on the edge of the box.
Bayern threw numbers forward in search of an equaliser in the final stages, but Gladbach were able to hold out until the final whistle to claim the win.
