SAFA have outlined a mandate for a Kaizer Chiefs coach, whoever that will be next season, to deliver a trophy.

In preparation for the U17 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, Amajimbos jetted out of the country to play two international friendly matches against Colombia, where they drew the first 2-2 and narrowly lost the second 2-1.

SAFA Technical Director Walter Steenbok has outlined further preparatory plans ahead of the COSAFA Zone 5 Games, which also serve as qualifiers for the U17 AFCON.

Following the two games against Colombia, Steenbok revealed their plans ahead of the Games and made it clear that they have expectations for head coach Vela Khumalo, who doubles up as Kaizer Chiefs DStv Diski Challenge head coach, to deliver the COSAFA Zone 5 Games trophy.

"It's important now that we have to focus on the COSAFA opposition, we want to have in July a four-nations, we're in talks with eSwatini, also Lesotho, also Botswana, for us to be able to have a four-nations," Steenbok told SAFA media from Colombia.

"Either it's practice matches or full internationals. We'll try to use again the FIFA TDS funding to be able to accelerate this process and prepare the players. Of course either in September or October we want to go to Namibia and play two matches as we acclimatize to the conditions.

"Because the Zone 5 games are earmarked to be in Namibia 2024, so it would be good for us to build up and get closer to Namibia. The idea is that either October or September, we play another two matches in Windhoek against Namibia U17 and of course prepare directly for COSAFA (Zone 5 Games)," he said.

"Where we really want to win that tournament and not just win it but win it in the right way, playing the right type of football and display our heritage and the kind of culture and values that we have as South Africans," Steenbok added.
