On the 20th anniversary of his Real Madrid debut, Raul Gonzalez has been compared to Cristiano Ronaldo by the manager that handed him his debut, Jorge Valdano.

Valdano claimed that, although both players are very different, both achieved greatness by constantly trying to improve themselves.
"Raúl and Ronaldo have different profiles but something in common: both strive for perfection", the Argentine World Cup winner told Marca.
Valdano continued to reminisce about Raul's debut all those years ago, and reserved some further praise for the Spaniard.
"Raúl was a child prodigy and it was a hard day as it was when Emilio Butragueño had to be retired," he added.
"I would put Raúl in a place of honour at Real Madrid. What he will most be remembered for is his attitude. Raúl should have won the Ballon d'Or.
"He has all the backing of the people and he never gives up. He is sure to set a blazing trail in the United States."
Raul is Real Madrid's highest goalscorer of all time with 323 goals in 741 appearances for the club, and Cristiano Ronaldo, in fourth position, is only 50 goals shy of that record, having made only 260 appearances for the club.
