During the COVID-19 pandemic, all businesses were affected, including those involved in the football industry.
Despite some clubs being world renowned institutions, they, too. were impacted fiscally by the global health crisis.
Juventus were no exception, and asked their playing squad at the time to defer their wages as a cost-saving measure.
Part of the squad at the time was the five-time Ballon d'Or winner, and while he did agree to concede his earnings then, he and his legal team are insisting that he be reimbursed.
The Bianconeri's case is that the 38-year-old chose to forego those wages owed to him once he decided to leave the Allianz Stadium to rejoin Manchester United in 2021, and as a result, the record Italian champions do not have plans to pay the attacker back.
Aggrieved by the situation, the Al Nassr captain decided to enlist the services of lawyers as he took Juve to court in June, and with the case having already dragged on for six months, it is likely to go on for even longer, according to new developments.
As per La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Court of Arbitration will only deliver a verdict on the matter in April next year, but there may be one final hearing in January before then.
