According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, the record Premier League champions have placed a bid for Cameroon shot-stopper Andre Onana.
United have seemingly become disillusioned with their current man between the sticks, David de Gea, and have identified the 27-year-old as his possible replacement.
The Red Devils and the Spaniard are rumoured to have agreed on a new contract on reduced terms, but it is believed that while the 32-year-old Spaniard did sign that deal, the club were reluctant to put pen to paper on it and are said to have since offered him a new contract with even lower wages as it looks like Erik ten Hag is keen to reunite with his former Ajax keeper.
Multiple reports claim that the Mancunians will be on a restricted budget in this transfer window, and consequently, they will be looking to source funds for new arrivals from all places.
De Gea, who is the club's highest earner on a reported €375 000 (R7 million) a week, will be one of the players who will be expected to sacrifice their earnings, especially given that his contract expires after tomorrow.
The same report claims that Inter Milan want €60 million (R1.2 billion) for the west African shot-stopper. The former Indomitable Lion still has four years remaining on his contract at the San Siro and the Nerazzurri are not expected to sell him for cheap.

The Serie A giants are believed to be willing to accept a base offer of about €45 million (R916 million), with the other €15 million (R305 million) in add-ons that should be easily attainable.
