Greenwood is still suspended by the Red Devils following his arrest in January 2022, but could make a return to the game after having his charges dropped earlier this year.
Elanga and Greenwood came through to the club's academy together and are believed to be good friends, with the former soon set to join up with United for pre-season.
The 20-time English champions are currently in Norway and are set to take on Leeds United in a friendly ahead of the new campaign on Wednesday, while rumours claim that a decision over Greenwood's future could be imminent.
It is said that the one-time England international could be loaned out for the coming season as Red Devils move towards deciding what his next for the left-footed forward.
