According to the Daily Mirror, the Spanish tactician was denied entry into the US for the second time this week, and was unable to take charge of his side's 6-0 win over Inter Miami in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
It is claimed Xavi travelled to El Prat Airport in Barcelona this past weekend, but was not allowed to take the flight to America due to previous visits to Iran.
The head coach took several trips to the Middle Eastern country over the past five years due to his former job as manager of Qatari club Al Sadd and, with the United States' international relations with Iran, he was "requested to provide additional documentation to justify his visits to the Middle Eastern nation".
An unforeseen, prolonged delay has reportedly left Xavi still unable to travel to meet up with his players and coaching staff, with his brother Oscar Hernandez having been on the sidelines against David Beckham's Inter Miami.
Barca's next pre-season friendly match in America will be against Real Madrid this coming weekend, before the Blaugrana take on Juventus in Dallas on 26 July.
